The #NJDevils battled back to steal a big point, but unfortunately could not pick up a second in OT. Nico Hischier scored with about a minute left in regulation to knot things up, ensuring the Devils a point on every single game this road trip. Quite frankly, the Devils did not deserve a point but that’s what good teams do…they find a way. They got completely dominated in 5v5 play and were extremely sloppy in all facets of their game. They’ll need to clean that up with a tougher schedule ahead. Mackenzie Blackwood was phenomenal and kept the Devils in it amidst a flurry of high danger chances from Seattle (.900 SV%)…however, he let up a pretty soft goal to Burakovsky in overtime which left a sour taste in everyone’s mouths. That’s kind of how it’s been with Mac lately. He’s shown so many flashes of promise but hasn’t fully put it together, despite putting up much more respectable numbers in his last few contests. Don’t let the 7-1-1 record in their last nine fool you…the Devils need to play better hockey. They’ll have a very important Metro Division contest in the form of a Sunday afternoon matinee versus Pittsburgh. Numbers wise, that’s a heck of a road trip. Anyone would’ve signed up for this a week ago. LGD!! 😈
