DEVILS WIN!!!
Jack Hughes’ two goal night helped extend the #NJDevils playoff cushion to ten points!! The Devils simply dominated a team that they were supposed to dominate. That was the tale of the evening. Jesper Bratt also had two goals in the contest, bringing him back to a point-per-game pace on the season. The big three of Nico, Jack, and Jesper has continued to be the gift that keeps on giving. Honestly, Dougie Hamilton can be included in that too to make it a ‘Core Four’. He has 20 points in his last 17 games as a defenseman, and he was the one that kicked off the scoring. Vitek Vanecek was good as always, stopping 31 of 33 (.939 SV%). He now owns a very respectable .914 SV% on the entire season, in comparison to the Devils’ .881% team rank last season. That’s a HUGE breath of fresh air which has enabled the Devils to win multiple games they would not have won last season. Depth scoring has started to click as well, with Jesper Boqvist finding the back of the net for the second straight game. After having just 4 points all season, he now has 3 in his last 2 games. Overall, just a very solid hockey game against a team that is flat-out terrible. This is what was supposed to happen, but it was very nice to see the Devils not play down to their opponent as they’ve done in years past. The Devils will next have a crucial but tough matchup in LA against the surging Kings. WOO!! LGD!! 😈
