DEVILS WIN A THRILLER!!!!!!
The #NJDevils have absolutely shocked Edmonton as they scored 2 goals in 7 seconds (!!) late in the third to complete the comeback. Ryan Graves dangled around a defender and shoveled one home to tie it, and right off the ensuing faceoff, Jesper Bratt was sprung on a breakaway and connected. That was the game winning goal, which set the Devils’ ALL TIME FRANCHISE RECORD for a season opening point streak!!! The streak is now at 11 games and counting. Mikes Wood was a force, as he scored the Devils’ first two goals and was a pest to play against all night. They continued to play a good all around game (as we’ve seen night in and night out) even when most people counted them out. Now, we await word on Mackenzie Blackwood, who left the game with an injury and appeared to be in a lot of pain. It shows a lot about the character and maturity of this team that they didn’t let things spiral out of control once Mac left, but instead got stronger and more resilient. Vitek Vanecek was phenomenal in replacing Blackwood, stopping all 18 after letting in the very first shot he faced. (.947 SV%)
This is one of the biggest victories for the Devils in years!! They’ll be in Calgary on Saturday night as they attempt to sweep the entire Western Canadian road trip. WOO!!! LGD!!! 😈
