Devils fall 5-4. Now, let’s put everything into perspective:
The Devils started out amazing tonight. The Rock was rocking and everything was going perfectly. It all started when the Devils gave up a goal with 10 seconds to go in the 2nd, making it 4-1. They started out the third much flatter on defense, and a turnover led to a goal in which Cory stretched possibly a bit too far, causing him to come out with an injury. A cold Mackenzie Blackwood was brought into the game and was hung out to dry, giving up two goals and allowing Winnipeg to tie the game. Somehow, after an absolute surge from the Jets, the Devils were able to escape with a point. 3-on-3 overtime was fun and will be fun the entire season. We had guys flying all over the place and just missed on a bunch of high danger scoring chances, including TWO Jack Hughes breakaways. That’s just how it went tonight. We then lost in a shootout. Let’s relax. In hindsight, we picked up a point against a very good team, one that was in the playoffs last season. What really matters here is Cory Schneider’s health. If he is to miss any significant time, we are in deep trouble. Goaltending has been deemed the x-factor from the start and Cory exiting this game is much more crucial to the season than the four goal lead slipping away. We await more news on Cory and have an opportunity at a monumental statement win tomorrow. It’s an 82 game season. Deep breath, Devils fans. Let’s go baby. 😈#WPGvsNJD
