On Aug. 6, 2011, these brave men paid the ultimate sacrifice when the CH-47 Chinook helicopter they were riding in crashed in eastern Afghanistan. 

Friends remember TSgts Brown and Zerbe, both Pararescuemen, and SSgt Harvell, a Combat Controller, as lifelong athletes who were proud of their jobs.⚡ 

They were among 25 Special Operations Command operators who died in the crash, which also took the lives of five Army Reserve Soldiers, seven Afghan commandos and one civilian interpreter.
