Adrian College Athletic Director Craig Rainey has announced the hiring of Adam Phillips as head coach of the Men’s Ice Hockey program. Announced on Monday, August 12th, Phillips becomes the third head coach in program history.

Phillips, a native of Farmington Hills, MI, was a four-year player at the University of Massachusetts from 2010-2014 where he amassed 50 points with 23 goals & 27 assists in 124 games. He also played for the Indiana Ice in the #USHL prior to college.

He returns to Adrian College after serving as assistant coach from 2020-2022. After a short time away from the Bulldogs, he returned as a volunteer assistant coach for the remainder of the 2022-2023 season. While with the Bulldogs, they won three-time #NCHA Peter’s Cup Championships & two Harris Cup Championships. He was apart of the 2022 #NCAA Division III National Championship team and the runner-up team in 2023.

Prior to his first stint with the Bulldogs, Phillips served as assistant coach, and later interim head coach, with the Odessa Jackalopes of the #NAHL. He also worked with Naurato Hockey and was player development coach for Total Package Hockey. He most recently served as assistant to the head coach at Miami (OH) University.

Phillips had a five-year professional career in the #ECHL with Stockton, Kalamazoo, Norfolk, the Indy Fuel, Orlando and Tulsa. He also earned invites to #NHL Developmental Camps with Philadelphia, the New York Islanders and Minnesota. 

He will begin his role immediately as the Bulldogs open up the 2024-2025 season at home against the #USNTDP U18 team on Saturday, October 26th.
