Which former Denver sports venue do you wish you could have experienced firsthand?

Today we are diving into the rich history of Denver’s Stadium District. Before Empower Field at Mile High became the Broncos’ iconic home, this area was filled with legendary sports venues that shaped Denver’s athletic legacy.

1️⃣ Denver Bears Stadium (1948-1968): 
Originally built to house the Denver Bears baseball team, this stadium was the birthplace of Mile High. The stadium started as a minor league baseball park and quickly expanded to accommodate Denver’s growing sports scene, eventually becoming the home of the Denver Broncos in 1960.

2️⃣ Mile High Stadium (1968-2001): 
Renamed in 1968, Mile High Stadium became synonymous with Denver sports. The stadium hosted the Broncos, Rockies, and even Major League Soccer’s Colorado Rapids. Known for its raucous fans and the iconic “South Stands,” Mile High Stadium was a fortress of Denver sports until its closure in 2001.

3️⃣ McNichols Sports Arena (1975-1999): 
Located adjacent to Mile High Stadium, McNichols was home to the Denver Nuggets, Colorado Avalanche, and hosted numerous concerts and events. Though it only stood for 24 years, McNichols Sports Arena played a pivotal role in Denver’s sports history before its demolition to make way for parking at the current stadium.
