This one is going to take a while to process, soak in, and appreciate. It was far from pretty, but I got it done.

I felt a lot, but I don’t know if I truly felt it all—yet, at least. I’m still feeling more and more, processing through it. I cried a few tears at the finish, but not my normal Niagara Falls. I laughed and cracked jokes. I built a positive energy cycle with everyone I could out there. I was consumed by pain, but not overtaken by it. I helped others and I helped myself. I smiled and the world smiled with me.

Through the race, lots of folks obviously asked me how things were going. Frankly, it was ugly and at some points I admitted out loud it was probably my worst 100-miler ever (read: yet 🤣). But I just started replying “good enough” with a smile or a shrug to follow. I felt good enough to keep going and what my body allowed on the day was good enough to get it done. Not better than that, but hey, good enough for 100 miles is pretty damn good.

I think my favorite part of this race was all the hugs. I shared hugs—sometimes mid-trail or even mid-stride—with my heroes, family, friends, Leadville community, racers, pacers, crew, and the best damn people on the planet. Thank you to everyone who made this a reality. Ultrarunning is a team sport.

I don’t bring my phone with me when I’m out there and I haven’t really fully plugged back in yet. I wanted to immerse myself in the experience, and I did so. I still am.

While I was unplugged, cutts_and_couloirs crushed it on running my Instagram here, so major thanks to him. It was wild to hear from people out on course and at aid stations that they’d already watched Feel It All. Now that I’m plugging back in, I’m excited to share the film with everyone. This year’s race, creating digital buzz here during it, and shart jokes (read: not jokes 🙃) is all to grow the impact of the film.

Comment “100” here and I’ll DM you the link for the film.
