I’m hardly alone in my use of a mylar band in this way, but I admit it is somewhat unconventional and outwith what is taught at dental school. Why? no idea - it’s a great use of a mylar strip!

Polydentia do make metal matrices (Unica matrix) for this exact use, however I find their emergence profile is a bit steep for most cases. Several cases I’ve shown in the past have used this placement - but I thought I’d just highlight it here. No rubber dam thanks to that pesky fixed retainer 😠

Nothing fancy - single shade G’aenial composite and Sof-lex polishing discs.
