I used to rush home every day from school to watch “Donahue” at 3 o’clock. I wanted to be him. Years later, I was honored to be there when he was inducted into The Television Academy Hall of Fame. He created the modern talkshow. He was bold enough to put on Minister Farrakhan & Sista Souljah for the best conversations on television. People are afraid to do that now. Too risk averse, worried about offending, advertisers, and being canceled. A legend, icon, and true trailblazer! Thank you for paving the way. Rest well, Sir 🕊️
