Alright hear me out. The Jets trading Sam Darnold makes a ton of sense, and the Colts should be calling about him. I’m projecting that Sam nets a 2nd and 3rd round pick, but I wouldn’t be shocked if he goes for a first from a contending team.⠀

WHY WOULD THE JETS SAY YES - Right now the Jets have the 1st overall pick all to themselves, and the fact that they have kept Adam Gase makes me think that this is part of their plan. Gase will lose you games, and I don’t see any other team really coming close to grabbing that pick away from them. Look, Sam Darnold might be good, but right now it’s looking like one of Lawrence/Fields/Lance might be way better. If the Jets plan on taking a QB first overall, why not trade the Darnold away and avoid an offseason QB competition?⠀

WHY WOULD THE COLTS SAY YES? - This Colts team can be one of the best in the league. The elite offense line combined with absurdly good defense reminds me of last years 49ers. Let me tell you this right now, Philip Rivers is like 95% washed. He’s holding back the team and there’s no way around it. He’s looked bad at times this season, and even though he’s coming off a comeback win, it was against the Bengals pretty bad defense. If you add Darnold to this offense, I believe they have enough firepower to compete with some of the top teams in the league. Darnold is still only 23 (younger then Joe Burrow) and he has shown flashes of greatness before. If the price is right, I think the Colts pull the trigger on the trade. ⠀
