👉🏾 Crystal Mason, a Texas woman, was sentenced to five years in prison for an innocent mistake - casting a provisional ballot in the 2016 election at the advice of a pollworker.

While on supervised release (similar to probation), Crystal thought she was eligible to vote and was performing her civic duty. She was never told and didn't know the state considered her ineligible.

The vote was never counted. Yet, her life has been completely upended.

Felony disenfranchisement's history is rooted in racism. Today, the process to restore one's right is exceedingly confusing in most states - even election officials misunderstand the laws. Now, these states are criminalizing voting. Make no mistake this is voter intimidation.🗣️ #RockTheVote
