We were honored to welcome distinguished guests to Advance Community Health for an insightful roundtable and tour, marking a significant milestone, three months post-Medicaid expansion in North Carolina.

Among our distinguished visitors were Governor Roy Cooper, Secretary Xavier Becerra, Secretary Kody Kinsley, Dr. Betsey Tilson, Congressman Wiley Nickel, Dr. Colin Ottey, Nick Riggs, and two Medicaid Beneficiaries. Together, we engaged in constructive discussions highlighting the profound impact of Medicaid expansion on our community.

"There's peace of mind that comes when you can get the healthcare you need." Secretary Becerra said. Governor Cooper echoed this, emphasizing the transformative effect Medicaid expansion has had on access to vital healthcare services.

During the roundtable, beneficiaries shared powerful anecdotes of how Medicaid expansion relieved financial burdens, with one of our own Board members, David Bell, articulating how it positively impacted his life. Their stories showcase the importance of equitable access to healthcare for all North Carolinians. "Everyone deserves a chance to have good medical care," Bell said.

Following the roundtable, our guests had a chance to tour our Southeast Raleigh location. As we reflect on this momentous occasion, we remain committed to advancing healthcare equity and ensuring that every individual receives the quality care they deserve.
