 ••• It has taken me some time to digest all that “The Jungle” is + has been but I promised y’all a post so here it is:

This labor of love was conceptualized with houndsusa + swishhdreams 5 years ago, before we got smacked with the pandemic + lack of funding. Last year, everycourthasastory changed that for the better.

Fast forward to a ton of obstacles, which were thankfully met graciously by local organizations, our families + of course, project_backboard.

Project Backboard + Swishh Dreams sent their best folks (aka pancho_mx1; maybe I’m a little biased lol) to install thejunglepgh design how I imagined it. Painting by their side, I, for once, was able to come into a project + just be the ✨ARTIST✨ - not the manager, not the problem solver, not the mathematician (IYKYK lol).

We were excited to share the finished result with the public with the ribbon cutting on August 3rd - our impact is now officially proclaimed as 🌴“The Jungle Celebration Day”🌴 in the City of Pittsburgh (+ nobody’s rain can stop that!) 😌. If you’ve been following me for a while you know this is my second proclamation + it is not taken lightly. I’m so glad I’m able to share this one with the incredible team we built 🥹.

This started off as a short film project “A North Side Solo.” 🎷 Thank you to everyone from the volunteers to the players in the tournament, all the North Side organizations + vendors involved, + every person who captured content for us during the creation of the court + beyond. None of this is possible without the funding partners langstongallowayfoundation, 5starbasketball or local_hoops. We truly created a North Side Ensemble! 🎼🎹🏆🌴🏀🖖🏽
