As he joins the Providence Pirates, Rob brings a wealth of experience, a proven track record of building winning teams, and a commitment to excellence. His leadership will be crucial in driving the Pirates to new heights, fostering a culture of consistency, game discipline, resilience, and success. 

Who is Dr. Rob Delaleu? rdelaleu 

He is a highly accomplished basketball coach with a career spanning over two decades. As the former Head Men’s Basketball Coach at Bristol Community College, Rob led his teams to nearly 200 wins with an exceptional win percentage of over 83%. His leadership brought the team four state championships, multiple All-American athletes, and a national ranking as high as #3. Rob was twice named NJCAA New England Region 21 Coach of the Year. In his final season at Bristol, his team achieved a 27-3 record, with several players earning scholarships to continue their athletic careers at Division 1, 2, and 3 schools.

In addition to his success at Bristol, Rob served as an assistant basketball coach at both Dean College and Bridgewater State University, where he further developed his coaching acumen. As a player, Rob scored over 1,000 points during his college playing career at Dean College and Wheaton College in MA. His play at both schools was efficient, earning him a spot in the top ten all-time at each school in various proficiency categories. In his final year, he was selected to play in the prestigious New England Collegiate All-Star game in 2001.

After his final year at Bristol, Rob resigned in good standing to support his son’s athletic journey and pursue his Doctorate in Educational Leadership. Currently, he continues to lead and inspire young athletes as the Head Boys Basketball Coach at Greater New Bedford Vocational Technical High School and as the Executive Director of the Greater Southcoast Hoop Academy.
