As physicians, we see time and again the tragedy, injury, and trauma that can occur when firearms are left easily accessible to children and teens. That’s why, on the final day of the first ever SMART Week, we’re standing together to raise awareness about the ‘T’ in Be SMART: TELL. 

We tell our patients about the critical need for secure gun storage during check ups.
We tell our colleagues about the critical need for secure gun storage at grand rounds. 
We tell the nation about the critical need for secure gun storage to help put a stop to this public health crisis. 

Trust us on this: adults and caregivers have the power to prevent gun violence. Be it a discussion at home or a conversation with a friend, telling your peers about secure gun storage can save lives.
