🇪🇸🇺🇸 Barcelona Femení had a great tour in the U.S., beating NWSL’s Bay FC 5-2 and USL Super League’s Dallas Trinity 6-0.

Alexia Putellas is full of praise for professionalism in American women’s soccer afterwards, and hopes it can be the same in Spain one day.

“The way the league is managed here is very professional. They take excellent care of the product and provide all the necessary support for the players,” Alexia said in the press conference.

“They focus on surrounding teams with top professionals to elevate the level.”

“I hope Spain can follow this example. These are examples to draw inspiration from, so I hope we don’t settle with where we are in Spain.”

“I believe much more can be done recognizing the quality of our product, players, teams, and culture.”

Now 30 years old, Alexia is an idol in Spain, and has done so much to improve women’s soccer there.

She’s won the Ballon d’or twice, and FIFA Best Player award twice.

For Barça Femení, she won them eight league titles and three Women’s Champions League titles.

For Spain, she won the Women’s World Cup with them last year.

Women’s soccer in Spain has exploded in popularity due to the success of the national team and Barça Femení.

However, Alexia believes much more can still be done and sees the NWSL as a perfect example.

She’s rejected interest from the NWSL before and is determined to improve women’s soccer in Spain.

Let’s see how much things change in few years, and if European leagues can surpass the NWSL.
