A bowhunter in Idaho was attacked by a grizzly bear Sunday but escaped with non-life-threatening injuries.⁠

Officials say the bowhunter and his friend were able to use their sidearms to shoot and kill the bear in self-defense. Officials also said that the bear attack would have been much worse had the injured hunter been alone.⁠
