This is such a challenging post for me but I thought I’d share. It’s hard for me bc the only people who believe me are my hairdressers (I mean, they play with hair all day and have seen the changes in mine!) & then I have 2 different Functional Med docs I’m working with.
🧬
I actually have a couple friends who’ve been supportive & told me in earnest they can tell.
🧬
Tbh, I understand why it’s hard to tell. Sometimes I wonder how it can look so normal one day & look a mess 24 hours later!
🧬
I remember years ago when it started. I noticed only when washing my hair & I noticed right behind my ears specifically, my hair line didn’t feel the same.
🛁
Then I’d get out of the shower, style my hair & thought it looked fine, idk what happened. It’s a fluke & I’m imagining it, is what I started to tell myself.
💚
And then I found it has a definite pattern. (My hair loss) It arches funny straight out of the shower. (Never used to & only lasts 1-2wks) Somewhere btwn me noticing the arching it starts to break into shorter lengths. Strands of hair will be thicker at the top and thinning then as you follow down. Then it all falls away and leaves baby hairs.
💚
In that last picture of “baby hairs”, It’s just under enough hair to go unnoticed but there is NO length to my hair from my temples to my ears in certain spaces.
💚
No one currently has answers. I certainly don’t understand myself. I do know, this pattern plays out over 2 weeks and I can tell you what’s falling away next.
💚
Maybe it has to do with my celiac and gut health (although my hair has never in my life been this long). Maybe it really is alopecia. 🤷‍♀️ It gets worse when Flo comes or stress.
💚
I’m still working with my FM docs. And newly stalking @nutritionbritt and all her hair insights.
💚
This isn’t a call out for any Monet reps. I already know a few. Just sharing my journey.
💚
I understand mystery symptoms. I understand searching for answers for years. I understand the frustration of no one to listen.
💚
All I can do is keep searching. Keep looking into my nutrient deficiencies. If you’re searching for something too, keep going!!! Every small step we do for our health does not get wasted!
