Adrian College Athletic Director Craig Rainey has announced the hiring of Chad Davis as head coach of the Women’s Ice Hockey program. Davis returns to the Bulldogs for his second stint as head coach with the women’s team, leaving back in 2018.

Davis, a native of Allen Park, MI, was a goalie at American International College from 2001-2004 where he appeared in 52 games for a 10-35-3 record. He also played for the Compuware Ambassadors of the #NAHL prior to college.

He returns to Adrian College after serving as head coach from 2011-2018 where he accumulated a record of 150-37-10, which continues to be the record for most wins by an Adrian women’s ice hockey coach. While with the Bulldogs, Davis was named #NCHA Coach of the Year four times and was #NCAA Division III COTY in 2017. His teams won four #NCHA Regular Season Championships & three Slaats Cup Championships. He led the team to a #NCAA Division III National Championship appearance in 2017.

Prior to his first stint with the Bulldogs, Davis served as head coach with Eastern Michigan women’s ice hockey of the #ACHA from 2008-2010 and was a volunteer assistant coach with the Robert Morris University (DI) women’s team the following season.

After Davis’ first stint with the Bulldogs, he became head coach of the women’s ice hockey team at the Rochester Institute of Technology (DI) from 2018-2020 before helping start the women’s program at the Milwaukee School of Engineering in 2021. He was College Hockey America (#CHA) Coach of the Year in 2019 while also having the CHA Player of the Year that same season.

After two years with the Raiders, Davis moved on to Saint Mary’s (MN) last season. He helped the Cardinals to their first Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (#MIAC) playoff championship appearance and cracked the national rankings for the first time in program history.

He will begin his role immediately as the Bulldogs open up the 2024-2025 season at home against Trine for an exhibition contest on Saturday, October 26th. Their regular season begins the weekend of November 1-3.
