I know the algorithm won’t like this, but I wanted to share some pics from my trip to Glacier National Park! Let’s call this part 1 of 2.

I spent my first 2 nights in Many Glacier Hotel right on Swiftcurrent Lake which was super convenient for catching sunrise/sunset (pic 4) and hiking that area of the park. It cut down a ton of driving time. After that I shifted over to Columbia Falls.

Day 1️⃣ - Grinnell Glacier hike (pics 1-3)
Grinnell Glacier has been my favorite hike so far. Started just after sunrise when there weren’t too many others on the trail. Saw a big horn sheep on the way back down. The hike wasn’t too challenging and had incredible mountain and lake views all the way up to the glacier basin!
Daily hike total = 10.46 miles / 2,025 ft elevation gain.

Day 2️⃣ - Iceberg Lake & Sun Point Nature Trail hikes (pics 5-6)
Another beautiful hike, but less rewarding than Grinnell Glacier IMO. The incline was gentle but steady, though you walk through the woods a lot. It was too late in the season for there to be any icebergs left in the lake, but it was still a gorgeous blue! On the way back through Going to the Sun Road, I stopped off at Sun Point Nature trail which had some amazing views of St. Mary Lake.
Daily hike total = 11.72 miles / 1,600 ft elevation gain.

Day 3️⃣ - Highline Trail hike (pics 7-9)
This hike was stunning - started just after sunrise at Logan Pass and had amazing views of the morning alpenglow for a while. Most of the hike to Granite Park Chalet was in the shade of the mountains and the narrow trails with steep drop offs were exhilarating. I just missed seeing a mama grizzly bear and cub near the Chalet. Originally planned to do this as an out and back to avoid the last 4 miles with 2,300ft elevation loss, but was a little nervous to face some of those narrow spots going against traffic - those last 4 miles were brutal on the knees and toes!
Daily hike total = 11.71 miles / 1,309 ft elevation gain.

I’ll share more soon!
