I've had the Google Pixel 9 XL since it came out and I've been shooting various test videos just to see how they turn out. They have a feature called 'video boost' that upconverts them to 8k quality, often adding some saturation and other edits to the videos in an attempt to make them look better.

This is one of the random videos. Turned out pretty good! Video boosting also stabilizes the footage a bit, makes it smoother, and tends to normalize the audio.

There's four things I don't like about video boost:

• In order to use video boost, you need to back the video up to your Google account, taking up a lot of space. The raw (unedited) video from this post was 850 MB. The finished video boosted size was 7.8 MB. Google accounts come with 15 GB. • It takes a long time to process the videos (the video in this post took over 1 hour to finish processing). 𝙄'𝙢 𝙝𝙤𝙥𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙬𝙞𝙡𝙡 𝙨𝙥𝙚𝙚𝙙 𝙪𝙥 𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙧 𝙩𝙞𝙢𝙚 𝙖𝙨 𝙂𝙤𝙤𝙜𝙡𝙚 𝙞𝙢𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙞𝙧 𝙝𝙖𝙧𝙙𝙬𝙖𝙧𝙚 (𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙬𝙝𝙚𝙣 𝙛𝙚𝙬𝙚𝙧 𝙥𝙚𝙤𝙥𝙡𝙚 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙩𝙚𝙨𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙫𝙞𝙙𝙚𝙤 𝙗𝙤𝙤𝙨𝙩 𝙛𝙚𝙖𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚 𝙖𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙨𝙖𝙢𝙚 𝙩𝙞𝙢𝙚 𝙟𝙪𝙨𝙩 𝙖𝙛𝙩𝙚𝙧 𝙡𝙖𝙪𝙣𝙘𝙝).

• Once they're processed, I haven't figured out how to 'export' the processed video. The only way I've been able to get the video is by tapping "create shortcut" in Google Photos and viewing the shortcut in my Internet browser. From there I can download the video boosted version to my phone. • You can only use 1x zoom and 5x zoom with video boost. While it's recording you cannot change the zoom whatsoever. 𝙒𝙤𝙣𝙙𝙚𝙧 𝙬𝙝𝙮 𝙣𝙤𝙩? 𝙄 𝙬𝙖𝙣𝙣𝙖 𝙯𝙤𝙤𝙢 😋
