Introducing a master of stealth and survival: meet the Six-Eyed Sand Spider! Featured in our Spiders Around the World exhibition this year, this spider is an ambush predator. Camouflaged with sand-holding hairs called setae, the Six-Eyed Sand Spider preys on insects and scorpions by burying itself in the sand. Found in the deserts of Namibia and South Africa, it reproduces via silk egg sacs and relies on potent venom for defense. To see this remarkable spider, visit Butterfly Pavilion between September 21 - October 31 for our Spiders Around the World Exhibition. To get tickets or learn more, click the link in our bio, and select "Spiders Around the World."
