Happy birthday to #PAFartist davidshrigley 🎉 One of Great Britain’s most cherished contemporary artists, Shrigley is celebrated for his distinctive comedic style and self-reflexive artworks, spanning drawings, sculpture, photography, and film. 

His 2016 Public Art Fund exhibition, "MEMORIAL," at Doris C. Freedman Plaza in centralparknyc, playfully redefined traditional monuments by engraving a grocery list onto a tall slab of granite. 🛒📜 This whimsical twist transformed the everyday into an extraordinary tribute, blending humor with profound reflection.

Shrigley’s exhibition commemorated the mundane act of writing a grocery list, turning it into a monument both to no one and to everyone. As passersby gazed upon this granite slab, they encountered a familiar yet elevated aspect of our shared human experience. We’re forever grateful for this innovative piece that challenges conventional notions of memorials. 🗿✨
