In 2021, a catastrophic accident in the Central African Rainforest left actress ashley_judd’s leg at risk of amputation. When Penn Medicine’s L. Scott Levin, MD, learned of her injuries, he reached out to her care team to offer his unique expertise.

“Dr. Levin's collaboration with my orthopedic trauma surgeon not only saved my leg, it means my foot moves beautifully today,” she said. “It is an astonishing recovery. I hike. I practice yoga. And I enjoy the free movement of my foot. His willingness to consult and advise a total stranger was incredible.”
