🚨 Lights Out Alert!

397 million birds are migrating across the US tonight! You can keep them safe by turning off unnecessary lights. Bright lights can confuse them and lead to deadly collisions.

The graphic underneath BirdCast's migration forecast shows cities and regions in the continental US where #lightsout efforts will be most needed tonight.

How you can help:

Turn off outdoor lights from 11 PM to 6 AM.
Close curtains and blinds to reduce indoor light spill.
Turn off lights before leaving the home or office.
Aim outside lights down and keep them well shielded.
Install motion sensors on outside lights.
Spread the word about the importance of going dark tonight!
Use an effective bird-glass collision mitigation solution such as Feather Friendly visual markers or Bird Divert UV markers.

A proper #LightsOut program with glass treatment is the one-two combo for bird conservation and can mean the difference between a safe passage and a tragic collision.
