How did Gustavus prepare you for seminary school? My professors at Gustavus are the reason I even started looking into Ivy League divinity school - their encouragement, advice, and recommendations were so important in preparing me for this experience! That's not to mention the classes in the religion and music departments, and the intentional conversations I had through United Christian Ministries and the Chaplains office at GAC. If I had to choose one thing to highlight, it'd be the authentic relationships I made with faculty and other students, and the conversations we had that prepared me for this journey. The one-on-one connections, especially with faculty, was an invaluable part of my time at GAC.⁠

What advice would you give Gusties thinking about Seminary School? You don't have to be "certain" or even completely convinced that you know what you want to do with your life to start graduate work in theology/ministry. As long as you know that you care about something or someone and you think that faith could play a role in how you care for that thing/those people, Seminary/Divinity school is an excellent place to explore yourself and the rich spiritual traditions that can inform your discernment.⁠

What was your call, why did you decide to take this path? While I'm still discerning my Capital C "Call," I know that I feel called everyday to bring the hope, love, and community found in the divine presence to all the people that need to feel it - which I think is all of us! Right now, I think the best way for me to do that might be through Outdoor Ministries, particularly in camp ministry, outdoor worship practices, music, and ecospirituality! Wherever God is leading, I'm glad that I'm here at Yale Divinity School - a place that provides the space and community to listen to that call authentically everyday!
