PAMILIYA!! IT’S TIME FOR PYC THEME REVEAL 📖✨🫂♥️🩷

This year’s PYC will be a two day event that’ll take place on February 17th-18th, 2024. 🥳

Here is a letter from this year’s Community Youth Development Coordinator, Cat French, and this year’s High School Outreach Coordinator, Kristen Cabatingan, that explains the theme “Take Space, Tell Y(our) Story:”

Dear KAmmunity, 

	Stories serve as spaces of infinite possibilities. They can function as maps of our history; as modes of healing from intergenerational traumas; as bridges that connect our lived experiences together. Storytelling has been a way that our ancestors have kept our communities alive, even when forced to navigate institutions that were never built for them. While many of our stories have been silenced and continue to be silenced, our experiences deserve to take up space—to be told, seen, heard, and remembered.

	To take up space means centering our holistic selves—centering y(our) histories, ways of knowing, dreams, strengths—both built from the uniqueness of our own experiences and also the collective struggles that our community has faced. Us taking up space together is not only an act of resistance to the institutions who tell us our stories are not worth remembering, but also a love letter to those who have come before us and generations who will come after. 

	PYC is made by and for the youth with the intention to create a space where we can heal and be held by the infinite love of our community. You are meant to be here. You deserve to take up space. Your stories are revolutionary.
