Many times people ask what's the difference between lower case deaf and capital D Deaf? Let me be the first to tell you that I am not an expert nor am I considered a full member of the Deaf community. The DHH journey is a lifelong one and I am still learning.

Here's a little bit of what I've learned and know. Lower cased deaf can resonate with anyone with hearing loss of any level. However clinically - this is defined as someone with thresholds 80dB and higher/louder. Individuals who identify as Deaf need not to have such hearing levels/thresholds to be a part of their culture or community - it just IS their culture and/or their identity.

I'm continually learning and I hope you are too 🤟🏽At the end of the day, I support individuals choosing and using whatever term they like to use to define themselves 💕
