For this week's story of #HowWeMetAtRU, we have Aliyah & Zach ✨

"Zach and I met in 2017, my senior year at Rutgers. From the very beginning we hit it off and became really great friends. He was a first year grad student from Iowa and I was a Jersey girl, so we didn’t think we would have much in common at first — but we were pleasantly surprised.

We started dating a few months into my senior year and some of the best memories we have are hanging at Olive Branch, library study session, the Rutgers movie theater, and basketball games. Once I graduated in 2018 he was right by my side, and I was by his when he got his Master’s in 2019. We even co-hosted a Christmas party together out of the Livi Apartments with some of our closest friends.

Rutgers definitely would have not been the same without meeting each other. We broadened each other’s horizons and opened each other up to new experiences. We have been together almost 5 years now and since settled in DC with our wonderful dog named Kobe, got engaged and are planning a wedding, and recently purchased our first home. So glad that Rutgers gave me the chance to meet my soulmate."
