In just an hour and a half, enough sunlight reaches the surface of the earth to provide a full year of energy consumption to the entire world. By incorporating solar photovoltaic (PV) panels, we have the ability to harness a portion of that energy to produce electricity. Today, solar panels are capable of harnessing over 20% of the energy sent to earth by the sun. Although that's just a fraction of the energy available, efficiency continues to improve.
