It was recently reported that Turkey Leg Hut would be temporarily closing following 35 health code violations. The popular restaurant is facing further scrutiny after a lawsuit was filed by gospel singer #JamesFortune and his wife, #RhaqueleFortune.

According to reports, the couple claims that they met the owners of Turkey Leg Hut, Nakia and #LyndellPrice, at their Houston restaurant and developed a bond with them. In December, during the Prices’ divorce, they loaned Nakia Price $100,000. Months later, Nakia called Rhaquele hysterically as the business’s assets were being seized, indicating that she needed further financial assistance. The Fortunes reportedly contributed over $180,000 for 15% ownership of Turkey Leg Hut. The following month, Nakia informed the Fortunes that she couldn’t pay the bills, leading to Rhaquele having to use her personal card to purchase food, supplies and pay employees.

On March 26, Turkey Leg Hut filed for bankruptcy, reporting less than $50,000 in assets. James Fortune stated, “By then, you know. we’re $300,000 in.
