It's time for the alto saxophone #SectionSpotlight!

Christian Loredo-Duran is a senior studying Public Policy with minors in Music, Latina/o Studies, and Law, Justice, and Social Change. This is his second year as a rank leader. When asked about his favorite MMB memory, he said “My favorite MMB memory was performing the show titled "El Toro" in the 2021 Michigan vs Ohio State game. The rush and excitement of that day was a glimpse into what would become one of the greatest experiences of my life.”

Sarah Cortez-De La Cruz is a junior serving her first year as rank leader. She is studying Biopsychology, Cognition and Neuroscience with a minor in Environment. When asked about her future plans, she said “I hope to join the Peace Corps and later pursue my Ph.D. in neuropsychology or a related field.”

Layne Malek is a junior and the section leader for the alto saxophone section. She is pursuing a double major in Mathematics and Data Science. “I think selflessness is an incredibly important quality in a leader. Being a leader is about the people you are leading -- not yourself. The focus should always be on the welfare and improvement of the members of the section.”

Callen Fields is a senior rank leader. He is studying Computer Engineering with a minor in Music. When asked about his favorite part of the alto saxophone section, he said “It is a lasting community that transcends the MMB and the University.”
