Last 24 hours has been rollercoaster of emotions for Auston Trusty, who has been called up to the USMNT.

Yesterday, he started his first ever Champions League game. Unfortunately for the defender, it was an absolute nightmare.

Celtic lost 7-1 away to Dortmund. Trusty was rated as the worst outfield player 😳

Today though, Trusty’s a part of the new USMNT coach Mauricio Pochettino’s first ever squad, giving him a chance to impress the Argentine up close.

Yesterday’s loss was Celtic’s first loss since March. During that stretch, they’ve beaten Manchester City 4-3 and Chelsea 4-1 in preseason friendlies.

But Celtic learned that preseason friendlies are just friendlies, and yesterday was the harsh reality.

The Scottish champions won their last three games 6-0, 5-1, and 5-2 before they faced Dortmund, a team that was a stark contrast to their previous opponents.

Cameron Carter-Vickers did not play due to an injury and he’s not in the USMNT squad.

Trusty played twice for the USMNT in 2023 under interim coaches Anthony Hudson and B.J. Callaghan. He didn’t get a single call-up when Gregg Berhalter came back, but got called up in September when interim coach Mikey Varas took charge.
