Curious about the new Fluffy Laser Lighthouse - aka: Project Sauron? Only a few weeks before the Burning Man 2024, soundsommelier looked at some very expensive, and very unused, old 360 data/power components from his failed attempt to build a rotating DJ booth in 2019 in the midst of negotiating a rental for the largest scanning laser in North America. We didn’t have the budget to rent more than 1, and that would look weird. Until he somehow thought: “yo. Let’s make a f****** laser lighthouse for the playa” 🤩

Thus #projectsauron was born. ⁣⁣

As usual though, he lacks the skills to actually build his own ideas, so he has to recruit much more capable heroes, specifically scottbarnhill of photonlasers to make it a reality. Scott volunteered almost an entire month of his life building an app-controlled 360-degree robotic rotating system with 3-axis of freedom (#patentpending) that can fully power and control the nastiest scanning laser currently on this side of the Atlantic, 72W of sparkling ridiculousness ⚡️🎆✨⁣⁣(fun fact: scott is a FAA-licensed pilot, which was critical to getting us the licenses to do this, it wasn’t easy!)

Perched nearly 35 feet in the air at the top of the Cloud, we were told you could see it anywhere on playa, some said even in Gerlach…. Can anyone confirm? 😅🧐⁣⁣
