PRETTY IN PINK: Over the past week, including the long weekend, the PALS have been decking the halls out in pink in preparation for Pink Week starting tomorrow. The annual week-long event is hosted by the PALS program as a fundraiser for the Breast Cancer Resource Center. 

Hosted in the courtyard across from the cafeteria during lunches next week, students will have the ability to purchase delicious treats, play with puppies and participate in the annual shooting PAL-lery.

Senior Lexi Rosenblatt said she’s excited to surprise students when they come into school on Monday and see the decorations. 

“I hope that it’s a pleasing sight to see on Monday morning,” Rosenblatt said. “I hope that it inspires people to come to Pink Week and donate and get excited about the cause.” 

Rosenblatt emphasized the importance of raising awareness surrounding breast cancer. 

“Breast cancer is such a prominent issue in a lot of people’s lives,” Rosenblatt said. “I think being able to raise awareness in a fun way and donate some money, and do our part to help is always a good thing.”

Over the years, Pink Week has become a prominent McCallum tradition, and aside from the obvious benefit of donating to a good cause, Rosenblatt said it also helps bring the school community together. 

“Even before I was in PALS, I always looked forward to it, just because it’s such a fun thing to take part in,” Rosenblatt said. “I think it can really bring the school together because who doesn’t love snow cones and popcorn and puppies.”
