NOT VERY DEMURE. Not mindful at all Jefferson Bates! 💁🏻‍♀️

The internet has been buzzing with the news that Jefferson Bates, a Washington resident, and who is unconnected with Creator @joolieannie filed for a trademark application for "VERY DEMURE...VERY MINDFUL..." -- which could hurt Jool's ability to monetize her IP. 

However, many people have misunderstood the trademark application process, especially against someone like Bates, a repeat trademark "pirate" 🏴‍☠️ who has only filed an 1B INENT TO USE trademark for the phrase in the promotional services category, but doesn't claim any actual use in commerce (like Jools could and should do here based on her viral catchphrase!!) 

🇺🇸In the US, you get trademark rights from USING brand names to sell stuff, not just by filing paperwork (although trademark attorneys like myself recommend you file 📁 for an application ASAP, especially if you go viral, as it saves time and money to lock your brand down with 🛒USE + 📁PAPER.)
