#PressPlay: A resident in Tampa, FL called into #TheBreakfastClub to speak on #HurricaneMilton as the storm begins to make its way through Florida. He emotionally called out the American government while speaking on the lack of support and resources some residents have received in relation to the hurricane.

As previously reported, the Homeland Security Secretary recently shared that #FEMA doesn’t have enough funding to last through hurricane season. According to apnews, FEMA administrator Deanne Criswell said that the agency has enough money to respond to Hurricane Milton following Hurricane Helene. However, without more funding, they can run into issues around December or January. If those issues do arise, they may have to retreat from long-term recovery projects to save money for the next disaster unless Congress provides more funding.

On Monday, White House press secretary #KarineJeanPierre spoke with the press confirming reports that Florida Governor #RonDeSantis refused to answer calls from President Biden and VP Harris in relation to hurricane relief. According to yahoo, Jean-Pierre said, “It’s up to him if he wants to respond to us or not. We invited the governor, right, to come and survey the damage areas with the president. Obviously, we were in Florida; we invited the governor of Florida to come. It was his decision not ― to not attend or not be there with the president. The president has reached out around Hurricane Helene. He reached out. It is up to the governor. It is really up to the governor.” CNN reports that Biden and DeSantis ultimately ended up speaking Monday night.
