📍White Sands National Park, New Mexico

 Most of you follow me for international travel but remember that there’s SO much to discover in your own backyard (especially if you live in the USA)!

Last year we hit up 4 National Parks in Colorado and New Mexico and White Sands National Park was by far the most impressive. It has the largest gypsum sand dune fields in the world and the sand is stunningly white. Not to mention it was virtually EMPTY when we went— perfect for photos.

Here’s some crucial info for visiting: 

✨Located in New Mexico the closest town is Alamogordo (20 mins drive away). We spent the night there and drove to the park in the morning.

✨ It costs $25 USD per car (like all US National Parks). If you’re visiting a few parks, I’d recommend getting the annual National Park pass which is only $80 USD.

✨Bring your own food and water as there are no facilities on site.

✨Sunscreen and wind protection are musts! Both the sun and wind are deceptively strong out there.

✨Go early to beat the heat. However, I was told you could get the best photos in the afternoon because of the shadows on the dunes.

✨Bring a sled if you can so you can go sandboarding. You can purchase a sled at the Visitor Center but costs range between $10-$20 USD.

✨Wear bright colors to get the most striking photos and videos of you in the dunes!

✨ Bring good walking shoes— it can be difficult to navigate the steeper dunes in flip flops and the sand is very hot on bare feet.

✨ Traveling with small children? Baby-wearing is essential as using a stroller is virtually impossible. The same unfortunately also goes for wheelchair users.
