Did you know that baking soda removes pesticides from produce? This is because most pesticides break down in an alkaline environment. A study by the University of Massachusetts found that soaking apples in a baking soda solution for 15 minutes removed 96% of pesticides from the surface.

To wash produce, combine 1 tsp baking soda for every 2 cups of water. Soak the produce for 15 minutes before draining and rinsing with water.

Peeling produce is the most effective way to remove pesticides that have been absorbed into the skin. It is always recommended to buy organic produce!
