October 10th is World Audiologist Day.  In many parts of the world audiology services are not yet available therefore only a small percentage of individuals (who would benefit from hearing services) have access to audiology services. I volunteered as an audiologist for Special Olympics one year and my job was cerumen management. There was no shortage of cerumen occluded ears and I had a great time helping new friends feel less impacted and getting access to sound!

This year I’m so excited to share that I’ll be traveling to Shandong, China to educate, present and mentor hearing healthcare technicians working with DHH children at a rehabilitation center with an amazing audiology, early intervention and SLP team headed by Christie Yoshinaga-Itano. We will be training technicians how we evaluate, counsel, program devices and rehabiltate here in the US. Learning and growing together is everything!
