So about yesterday…. 
I have been chasing the northern lights for about a year now! I went to Iceland last year, Rovaniemi Finland, and Fairbanks Alaska!! I saw a decent show in Iceland last year, but the rest were so dull, so cloudy, such a bummer. I didn’t wanna live my life feeling like something I was so obsessed with was so underwhelming🤣 
This year the aurora is at its max so I made it my mission to see a spectacular show! The KP at the beginning of the week showed it being a 1.3- WEAK!! Then randomly it jumped to an 8 meaning extreme solar storm. So you bet on October 10th I booked a flight from Germany (where I was currently at) to Iceland (top places in the world for the aurora) FOR OCTOBER 10th for less then 24 hours. Literally booked a same day flight (I’m type A so that’s a HUGE deal) Talk about spontaneous 🤭 
I ended up seeing a light show that was full of the brightest reds which is incredibly rare, and as most are saying was the best aurora they’ve seen in over 20 years! That’s pretty much my whole life😭 
They were out all night! Everytime I looked out my window they were there until the sun rose! 9pm-3am-6am it was incredible! 
All these photos are raw and purely unedited! I could even see some colors with my naked eye, especially some dim reds! I will say though, it’s crazy how the naked eye doesn’t really see it for real, especially compared to the camera! The camera makes it look so much better than real life haha! 
Overall- I just feel incredibly blessed. I cried so many times and it was definitely an experience of a life time! I took the random shot in the dark, booked a day trip, and it was so incredibly worth it🥹 I was hesitant at first but I promise I never would have forgave myself had I not booked that flight. Moral of the story- book that flight ❤️💚💗💜💙
