After blocks and kills delivered by Carlson, the Knights set a precedent for themselves that they aren’t slowing down, and the Knights led the fifth and final set 9-7 by the first time out. Serves from Thornton combined with kills by Koch allowed the Knights to maintain the high ground. Hits were landing, and kills were racking up for the Knights up until the Raptors started proving that blocking can lead a comeback for a team trailing 5 points.

Towards the middle of the set, Thorton went down after hustling to a ball shanked into the scorekeeping table. After Thornton rose and hustled back onto the court, the crowd, consisting of both McCallum and Raptor viewers, erupted in support of the junior libero. Following this moment, Thornton made a game changing dig from the back line, and paved the way for Carlson to earn the Knights another kill.

After nerve-racking rallies, and hits that rattled the gym from both teams, the game came to yet another 15-15 tie. Since the final set only accounts for 15 points, and either team still had to win by two points, the tension was high. The final plays consisted of thrilling spikes by a variety of outside hitters, and blocks from the Knights keeping the Raptors at bay, but in the end, the final point was scored when Thornton served a ball that was later shanked by the Raptors back line, winning the Knights one of the most intense games of the season 18-16.
