Born on November 12, 1957, in Madrid, Spain, she showed exceptional talent as a junior golfer, winning the Spanish National Championship at just 14 years old. Marta attended the United States International University (USIU) in San Diego, where she continued to excel in golf. She became the first non-American woman to win the U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship in 1982, a prestigious victory that signaled her potential on the international stage.
After turning professional in 1982, Figueras-Dotti quickly found success on the Ladies European Tour (LET), where she won her first professional title, the Belgian Ladies Open, in 1984. The same year, she earned Rookie of the Year honors. Her talents eventually led her to compete on the LPGA Tour, where she made history by becoming the first Spanish woman to win an LPGA event—the 1994 Cup Noodles Hawaiian Ladies Open.
