💡St. Augustine Lighthouse & Maritime Museum Celebrates 150 Years of History with A Kick off Week of Events in October

ST. AUGUSTINE, FL – The St. Augustine Lighthouse & Maritime Museum is thrilled to announce
the celebration of its 150th anniversary, marking a significant milestone of this iconic tower.

This momentous occasion is set to kick off a week of special events from October 14 to October 18, 2024. This week-long celebration will feature various engaging activities for all interests and ages.

Monday, October 14th is Family Day. Kids 12 & under will receive free admission from 10 am-6 pm. There will be Lighthouse-inspired maritime activities, a bounce house & dunk tank, and a scavenger hunt with a prize. Local organizations will also be joining the event including the Girl
Scouts, Fort Mose, Fort Matanzas, Anastasia State Park, St. Augustine Yacht Club, Lightner Museum and more. Organizations will host arts & crafts and educational activities that will run from 10 am-4 pm.

On Tuesday, October 15th is the Exhibit Opening & Ribbon Cutting Ceremony. The new exhibit is called “Reflections: A Celebration of 150 Years of Service.” There will be a ribbon cutting ceremony with a champagne toast for VIP guests from 5:30 – 6:30 pm. St. Augustine Lighthouse & Maritime members are invited for a sneak peak of the new exhibit from 6:30-7:30 pm. And
from 7:30 – 9:00 pm, the grounds will be open to the public. There will be night climbs, music and a big spot light! 

“This is truly a momentous anniversary to celebrate,” said Amy Klassen, Executive Director of the St. Augustine Lighthouse & Maritime Museum. “Not only does it give us an ideal opportunity to reflect on the Lighthouse’s impressive past, it also provides us with a starting point for creating an even more vibrant future for this iconic structure.”
