Members of the Class of 2026 gathered for Canisius High School’s hallmark Kairos Retreat in late September at the beautiful campus of the Notre Dame Retreat House in Canandaigua.
 
Named for the Greek term meaning “God’s time,” the Kairos retreat offers students set-apart time to reflect more deeply on their experiences so far at Canisius and their relationship with self, God and others.
 
Students leave their phones and electronic devices behind for the three-day, two-night retreat.
 
The retreat is led by a team of students and faculty members who share reflections, lead meditations and guide small-group discussions about identity, spirituality and personal growth.
 
At the close of this 125th CHS edition of Kairos, students left the Finger Lakes with a greater sense of their personal identity, community and familial belonging, as well as with a call to faith, discipleship and service.
 
The student leaders of Kairos 125 were: Kevin Bridge ’25, Joseph Den Haese ’25, John Ganci ’25, Eric Gioia ’25, Joshua Monti ’25, Cormac Schaeffer ’25, Daniel Sugg ’25.
 
The adult leaders were Campus Minister Ron Ahrens ’91, physical education teacher Sam Belsito, Director of Campus Ministry Fr. Chuck Frederico, S.J., science teacher Michael Gabriele ’16, religious studies teacher Josh Gehl, history teacher Dave Hayes ’87, history teacher Criag Hinchcliffe.
