Your One-Day Guide to Iceland’s Iconic 
📍 Snæfellsnes Peninsula:

1. START: Kirkjufell & Kirkjufellsfoss (First Light)

Icelands iconic mountain and waterfall — and one of the most photographed spots! Arrive EARLY ro beat the crowds and catch the best light 🤩. 

TIP: the night prior, camp or stay in a charming hotel in nearby Grundarfjörður. 

2. Ingjaldshólskirkja (Red and White Church)

This is the oldest concrete church in Iceland, set against a beautiful mountain backdrop. (15 minutes from Kirkjufell)

4. Djúpalónssandur Beach

This black sand beach is not only beautiful but also steeped in history with shipwreck remains scattered across the shore.

5. Snæfellsjökull National Park

Varied landscapes of lava fields and volcanic craters! Stop to hike in the lava fields for a taste of Iceland’s rugged beauty. Stay on the path and do not walk on the ancient moss 🙏.

6. Arnarstapi & Hellnar

These two coastal villages are connected by a scenic hiking trail along stunning sea cliffs, basalt formations, and natural rock arches.

7. Lóndrangar Cliffs

The towering volcanic rock pinnacles are one of the most dramatic sights on the peninsula.

8. Búðir Black Church (a fun photo stop!)

The contrast of the black church against the stark landscape took us by surprise! 
You can also—wander around the nearby lava fields. 

TIPS to EXPERIENCE: 

◻️ Day trip from Reykjavik 
◻️Easy detour before or after driving the Ring Road. 

NOTE: Since we had limited time we selected this Peninsula OVER the famous Golden Circle — which we heard was overcrowded and somewhat underwhelming 😬. Have you been? Let us know your experience in the comments!
