We don’t always take selfies, but when we do… it’s in space. ⁣

NASA astronaut Christina Koch (Astro_Christina) took this “space-selfie” during the first all-woman spacewalk on Oct. 18, 2019. She and fellow NASA astronaut Jessica Meir (Astro_Jessica) ventured into the vacuum of space for seven hours and 17 minutes to change a failed battery charge-discharge unit (BCDU) on the International Space Station (ISS). The BCDU regulates the charge to the batteries that collect and distribute solar power to the orbiting lab’s systems.⁣
⁣
As the mission specialist for the Artemis II mission, Koch will fly around the Moon inside the Orion spacecraft with fellow NASAAstronauts Reid Wiseman (Astro_Reid) and Victor Glover, as well as CanadianSpaceAgency astronaut Jeremy Hansen (AstroJeremy). She will become the first woman to fly around the Moon.⁣
