Do you have kids, pre-teens, or teens with days packed full of sports or other extracurricular activities?

If so, you know how important — and challenging — it can be to keep their hunger satisfied and their energy levels up.
To the busy parent who want to keep their young athletes well-fed and strong but don’t have time to cook elaborate meals every day—this is for you.

As a Licensed Registered Dietitian (RD) with a PhD in Sports Nutrition (and a mom of kids in sports), here are some of the snacks I give my own kids to keep them fueled and strong:

—Grab-and-go protein bars (my kids like the mini Quest protein bars)

—Pistachios (make sure they’re the ones with the shell for optimum mess-making lol)

—Plain Greek yogurt with frozen blueberries and honey

—Good quality deli meat and cheese

—Tuna with mayo (my kids make their own!)

—Boulder Canyon chips fried in avocado oil over chips fried in vegetable oils

And my favorite snack, which takes just a few minutes to make but is packed with protein and nutrients:

—SMOOTHIES with heavy cream, fairlife whole milk, lots of collagen, frozen strawberries, frozen spinach, and a little bit of Dr. Ashley lemonade electrolyte.

What do you feed your kids to keep them healthy, full, and strong? Let me know in the comments!
