Eastside Golf want’s to give a big shoutout to the champ himself timoneal00, a man that represents perseverance. 🏌🏾‍♂️

On Sunday, Tim O’Neal, 52, earned the biggest victory of his career, winning the 2024 deccgolf on the pgatourchampions in his 50th start on the circuit.

The win was a long time coming for the 52-year-old, who, before joining the senior tour, had spent his career competing all over the world. O’Neal notched three wins on the PGATour Latinoamerica between 2013 and 2016, but had previously come up short twice in his attempts to get through PGA Tour Q-School.

After turning 50 in 2022, O’Neal earned a spot on the pgatourchampions by finishing T3 at Q-School. He had a solid 2023 season, placing 44th in the SchwabCupfinale standings, just missing out on fully-exempt status given to the top 36 players. Despite this, his top-54 finish allowed him to compete in 24 events in 2024.

Heading into the deccgolf, the first leg of the three-event Charles Schwab Cup Playoffs, O’Neal was ranked 55th, one spot shy of the cutoff to make it into the following week’s playoff event. 

O’Neal’s win catapulted him well inside that cut line after topping the field at the_ccv. O’Neal fired rounds of 71-67-65 at the Country Club of Virginia to claim the title by two over Argentina’s Ricardo Gonzalez. 

With the win and its double points, O’Neal launched himself from No. 55 to No. 13 on the Schwab Cup points ranking, not only ensuring his entry into this week’s Simmons Bank Championship but also the pgatourchampions’ season finale, the Charles Schwab Cup Championship. 🏆
